Terms of Service
Welcome to InkScan. By accessing or using our handwriting OCR service at inkscan.app or via our API, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, purchasing credits, or using InkScan in any way, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Service Description
InkScan provides AI-powered handwriting OCR that converts images of handwritten text into digital text. The service is available through a web interface at inkscan.app and a REST API. OCR accuracy depends on image quality, handwriting clarity, and document condition. We do not guarantee specific accuracy levels.
3. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and API keys. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Credits & Payment
InkScan uses a pay-as-you-go credit system. One credit equals one page of OCR processing. Credits are purchased in packs via Stripe. Purchased credits do not expire. Credit prices are listed on the pricing page and may change with notice. All purchases are final once credits have been used. Refunds for unused credits may be requested within 7 days of purchase by contacting support.
5. Free Usage
Anonymous users may use the web tool for up to 5 free scans per day without an account. Free usage is subject to Cloudflare Turnstile verification. New accounts receive a one-time welcome bonus of credits. Free usage limits may change at any time without notice.
6. API Usage
API access is available to all accounts with credits. You must not share your API key or use it in a way that allows unauthorized third parties to access the service. Rate limits apply per API key. Automated or programmatic abuse (including circumventing rate limits, scraping, or using the service to build a competing product) is prohibited.
7. Content Policy
You may only upload content that you have the right to process. You must not upload content that is illegal, harmful, or violates third-party rights. We reserve the right to refuse processing or terminate accounts that violate this policy. We do not monitor uploaded content, but we may investigate reports of abuse.
8. Intellectual Property
You retain all rights to the content you upload and the OCR results generated. InkScan does not claim any ownership over your content or results. The InkScan service, brand, website, and documentation are our intellectual property.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that OCR results will be accurate, complete, or error-free. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all OCR output before relying on it.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, InkScan shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim.
11. Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. Upon termination, unused credits are forfeited unless a refund is granted per our refund policy.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which InkScan operates. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of that jurisdiction.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or notice on our website at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
